This article that I read today online at CTV.ca had me very angry, and not for the obvious reason that another human too swiftly exited the world. Oh no, gentle reader. The line that had my undivided attention was this “charged with neglect to obtain assistance in childbirth.” Now, I am unfamiliar with the Canadian Criminal Code, and the likelihood of being charged with this crime if you do not go on to bury your neonate under the house. This news article I came across today, is just plain mean. No skirting around it. When it’s -40 with the wind chill (or worse, none) nothing will make dilapidated bus shelters (particularly those with busted-out panels) feel warmer. In fact, having to see this would only call attention to how my face is slowly burning away as though from liquid nitrogen, I have not felt my fingertips in about 10 minutes, Continue Reading »

VICTORY IS MINE!!! As of March 10, 2008 this website has been removed, by the domain hosting service I would imagine. Of course its owner could have moved elsewhere, but it’s a victory nonetheless!

It has come to my attention that dating dot anything08 dot com (because this site stole my content, and has done the same to countless others) will scrape absolutely any post that is tagged dating, or anything to do with “date” at all - it even shows up in internet searches as having pinged technical blogs that have nothing to do with its theme of dating. I don’t think there is any original content on this site - just countless scraped posts that are mainly fictitiously labeled as authored by “information on dating | dating“
If you are a WordPress.com user, you have fewer choices because you can’t add plug-ins, and reporting is a bit more challenging. These untalented thieves have opted to use WordPress.org openware, giving much more free rein
So my advice to you: resist the urge to tag your posts with dating - try something close enough but dissimilar. And if you do anyway, don’t say I didn’t warn you. I also recommend investigating this link:

I have discovered who’s hosting these chumps, and you can direct your complaints to

Stories from abroad like these, I’m not ashamed to admit, completely freak creep me out. And not just because of the beyond statistically significant probability that some of this satellite’s debris could still hit part of the Great White North. Not just because of what must have been behind the need to express the desire to “work with Canada for ‘consequence management and payload recovery operations’ “and the accompanying question of whether we’d get better results than Hurricane Katrina victims’ formaldehyde-laced FEMA trailers. I found this new Time article very disappointing. I had read about this gel before (if it is the same one) and it was highly innovative, being able to liquefy and congeal depending on the pH of the environment it’s in.
It got me thinking about a number of questions, mostly about gender politics, Continue Reading »

This article I came across (albeit about twelve months late, and ironically in a medical waiting room with my iPod’s headphones firmly stuck in my ears) is quite intriguing; it combines two of my more perenially favorite subjects: math and music. Continue Reading »

..or so my parents said, and it’s pretty good advice. Too bad nobody listens to it anymore. These two freaks obviously didn’t. This article raised a number of salient points for me. Continue Reading »

Think long and hard about joining an online ‘dating’ site. Think long and hard before you go thinking about joining anything. That is all. Having said that, I laughed for about two minutes straight after I watched this. Take a look! It’s Kent Brockman on crack! Continue Reading »

This piece on weddings gone terribly wrong reaffirmed a few key things for me.
1) The smaller the better. After about fifteen or twenty people, the remainder (unless you have a multitude of cousins with whom you share a mutually fond relationship) don’t really want to be there. They want the food, the booze Continue Reading »

I already know the requirement that you have to be registered and logged in to comment, will vex certain friends of mine who will remain nameless… *cough* Bryan *cough*. So I apologize in advance. This time around, the evil spammers seem much more militant and ready to strike, as already there were spam comment attempts that wordpress had to block for me, despite none of my posts being category-tagged to entice traffic. In case I don’t post much (yeah, right, who am I kiddding?!) at least that way there won’t be much to clean up when I do log back in.

In thinking back to my younger (and far less wise) years, I’m struck by the number of people who did not “get” my vocabulary. At all. Especially the ones older than me. These were often the ones who despised home-schooling, (for ill-thought out reasons) Continue Reading »
